This was my 5th stay over the last four years and while the price (best online discounts) has increased by 50% over that time, the rooms have deteriorated . The service has improved, though, especially the use of English amongst the staff. I don't believe that this hotel merits a 5 star rating and within this price range, there are much nicer hotels in Seoul to choose from.

This is a perfectly comfortable full service hotel with modestly-sized "deluxe queen" rooms (mine was on the 20th flr) that provided decent value. However, those unaroused by theme park rides and mall shopping will find nothing special beyond endless options for parting with your won. The complex -- also including a highrise dept store, indoor skating rink, and numerous restaurants, along with a full-blown mall and theme park -- is massive and very easy to get lost in. Kids and avid consumerists will be distracted, but others not so much. The Jamsil metro station is just outside the main door, giving great access to a clean and extensive subway system. Pool, jacuzzis, and sauna were not large, but pleasant and surprisingly uncrowded. Spa options not exercised by me, but prices were reasonable (eg 40 min massage ~$40). Warning: all are closed the final Monday of every month. Don't be fooled by promises of "broadband internet access" -- the access is there, yes, but activating it for 24 hrs will run you about $18. Concierge staff extremely eager to assist, incl making reservations for the Nanta show at Myeongdong. Still, they were not always accurate in their advice, (eg providing maps, but misidentifying destinations on same), Korean Airlines "limo buses" are a beautiful thing, running to both Gimpo (KW7,000) and Incheon (KW15,000). Can definitely recommend based on comfort/access versus cost, but I'd go back to the Plaza next time.
